Summerlin, founded in 1990, is a large Master Planned Community just on the edge of West Las Vegas. The community is pieced into Summerlin South, Summerlin West, Summerlin, and Sun City Summerlin to make a beautiful neighborhood. With multiple types of housing, Summerlin has community parks, pools, and centers scattered throughout for all ages to enjoy. Summerlin is just minutes away from the Strip and Downtown, and you can access the 215 Freeway or Summerlin Parkway for a fast commute.
Sense of Community:
Summerlin hosts many parades, the largest being the 4th of July Parade through Village Center Circle. Organizations and business owners come together to build bright and fun floats to show off their community pride. Summerlin offers many events for everyone to join in on such as Disco Night at the Trails or a Blood Drive at the Willows. The neighborhoods have community centers close by that any Summerlin resident has access to. They offer programs for all ages such as dance classes, karate training, and many more. Most of the community centers have swimming pools, game rooms, and gyms.
Outdoor Fun:
With so many community parks scattered throughout Summerlin, it wouldn’t be difficult to find a place for a quiet picnic, play outdoor sports, or even go swimming. Just about 20 minutes West on Charleston Blvd you will find a stunning national park close by, Red Rock Canyon. Just around the loop, you can go on a very colorful and scenic hike, explore the trails while horseback riding, or just cruise around to see the amazing colors and wildlife Red Rock Canyon has to offer. Summerlin also has golf courses sprinkled in such as Bear’s Best, Canyon Gate, and The Arroyo Golf Club to hit a few golf balls around. If the weather is nice and warm, Wet N Wild is just a short drive away and has plenty of water activities for the entire family.
Community:
Summerlin is large, and it is continually growing more West. With a growing community, there are plenty of schools for all children, and multiple options for private or charter schools. Located in the center of Summerlin, Downtown Summerlin has shopping and plenty of restaurants to choose from. If you want to add some thrill of sports, just across the street is The Aviators, Las Vegas’ first minor league baseball team, or watch The Golden Knights pass around a puck and practice at City National Arena. Downtown Summerlin is where you will find most locals enjoying the weather and just having a great time.
